- Make sure that the DS game you are playing actually uses the microphone feature by consulting the game's manual.
- When using the microphone, position the DS system about 10 to 12 inches from your mouth.
- Try to make sure that you are in as quiet an environment as possible. Ambient background noise will affect the voice recognition system and make it less effective.
- If there is no response from the game, the DS system may not be picking up your voice. Try raising your voice slightly, but without yelling. Yelling may produce distortion and interfere with the voice recognition system.

The microphone on the Nintendo DS system is located directly below the lower left corner of the touch screen, next to the word "MIC."
Nintendo DS Lite
The microphone on the Nintendo DS Lite system is located directly above the touch screen on the hinge, next to the word "MIC."
The microphone on the Nintendo DSi system is located directly above the touch screen on the hinge, to the right of the inner camera and next to the word "MIC."
